Grindelwald origins |

Grindelwald village in Tasmania was founded by the late Mr & Mrs Roelf Vos after their stay in a quiant little village in Switzerland. Many of the houses in Alpine Crescent, the old part of Grindelwald, were built in the best Swiss tradition with wide eaves, steep roofs, interesting balconies, flower boxes and window shutters. Even though they have the same ingredients, each house has been individually designed and is set on a range of 2 to 5 acres of land with white horse fences. A seven hectare lake "Lake Louise" was carved out and a small chapel was built on the shores. The houses have views of the tranquil lake, peaceful valleys or spectacular Tamar River views.
